The copper concentrate CCS treats contains a certain amount of bismuth which is mostly gathered in converter dust during the smelting process. CCS worked with Yunnan Copper Technology Development Co. Ltd and developed a technology to extract bismuth from the converter dust. This bismuth recovery system was designed to process 6 tons of dust per day in order to recover copper and bismuth from the converter. The bismuth recovery system was put into trial production in October 2012 and by the end of 2017, 154.81 tons of bismuth metal had been recovered.
